About
| I am a professional venomous snake handler and animal trainer. I have a lion, baboon, two cougars, two bears, several crocodiles and alligators, and of course venomous snakes. However, my lineup of animals would not be complete without my cat, Skeeter. When I am not busy with the above I am in the woods hunting, camping, or snake hunting. I also like to go out and spearfish any opportunity I get. In addition to animals I have a passion for photography and videography which I incorporate in all aspects of my life. Last and definitely not least, I get to do it all with my girl “Shana”. We share an adventure every time we are together. No matter how accomplished someone feels, it feels even better to share it with someone special…
Born in 1977 a South Florida native, David “The Cobra Kid” Weathers got his interest in wild animals at the young age of three. This passion developed while visiting the Miami Serpentarium. It was there he saw legendary snake handler and venom expert, Bill Haast. At age ten David started volunteering at The Native Village in Hollywood, FL. One year later, he began training to become an Alligator Wrestler and by the time he was fourteen he was doing it professionally. The Native Village became the anchor for David to excel in what he wanted out of life. For over 10 years working at The Native Village David gained experience handling and training cougars, bears, and other species of wild animals. In the past 3 years David even had the opportunity to work with African Elephants. Over the years of handling animals, David received his share of animal attacks and injuries. From the jaws of alligators to the claws of an African lion. Not letting any of this detour him from success, David kept jumping right back into the danger zone. Then one day in January 2002 David had a near fatal bite to the abdomen from an Asian Monocled Cobra. This bite steered David’s career in the animal world drastically, but in a positive way. The entire snake bite was caught on film and struck the interest of several TV shows. Since then David has made appearances on many different shows and continues presently with several projects. You may have seen David on shows such as Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Impact: Stories of Survival on Discovery Health Channel, The Montel Williams Show, several appearances on MTV’s WildBoyz, Venom 911 on Animal Planet, Steve-O video vol. 3 “Out on Bail”, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and a 1 hour special on Discovery Channel “Anatomy of a Snakebite”. David has also done a world tour with the “Don’t Try This at Home” tour featuring Steve-O, Manny Puig, and other cast members from MTV’s “Jackass”. |
